Under Construction
Madeline Jarvis has been a volunteer DJ with WRNC since March 2011. When she was 2, she wanted to be a postal worker so she could bring everyone good news. Not much has changed since then.
SideTracks host Steve-O has been making music and collecting and spinning long playing platters since the early 1960s. Steve-O loves the first British Invasion (c. 1964), psychedelic sounds and garage band fuzz, and deep, deep soul. SideTracks airs on Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. and celebrates the classic album format, with whole sides of vinyl on the menu, whenever possible. You’re just as likely to hear the 13th Floor Elevators, Flying Burrito Brothers, or Uncle Tupelo as you are the Beatles, Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd St Rhythm Band, or Elvis Costello.

J-Fro lives in Washburn and is a 1993 graduate of Northland College. The records that he remembers growing up are “The Best of the Beach Boys” and “Sgt. Pepper.” He played violin all through his schooling and took guitar lessons at The Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, but so has a lot of people. He encourages everyone to please make some of their music purchases in music stores, which are a dying institution.

Hi I’m Andy Butter, I’m a transfer sophomore at Northland and I like only the tastiest jams and always pour one out for Biggie Smalls. Listen to a sample of Steve and Andy’s show Gravy Nation by clicking here.

Stephen Lorber is the host of Gravy Nation with Andy Butter, which airs Saturday evenings on 97.7 WRNC. Steve attended UW-La Crosse before coming to Northland College. Lorber is partial to Creedence Clearwater Revival and other classic rock.
I like music, skiing, traveling, sunshine, photography, friends, and family. I do not like celery, math, insects, Rascal Flatts or fast walkers. I am currently a freshman at Northland College, and traveled here from Lakeville, Minnesnowta. My favorite colors are purple, blue, gold, silver, and yellow. Just don’t put them all together at once because I can’t imagine them looking as great mixed. I love being from Minnesota. Also I <3 Andy Butter.

Lydia was born in lovely Aspen, CO, about 18 years ago. After some time there, she moved to St. Paul, MN, where she became very involved in the underground rap and hip-hop scene and attended the illustrious School of Environmental Studies at the Minnesota Zoo. Currently, Lydia is attending Northland College as a freshman, with the hopes of getting a degree in Psychology. In her free time, she enjoys making loud noises in quiet buildings and spending time with her dog CaperniGus and her horse Shoulda Been. Listen every Friday from 6-7 p.m. to hear Lydia and her co-host Anna Cousin play whatever the heck they want!
Hello there! My name is Ian but you can call me Arizona, Old Man, or Dapper Ian. I’m pretty keen on old crappy movies and I am more than willing to watch a film with loads of camp and a small budget before any Academy Award winning box office hit. I don’t really favor any particular style of music so more than likely, you’ll be hearing a little bit of everything on my show, with the exception of country. I apologize to all you country lovers out there but strangely enough for being from Apache Junction, AZ, I have never been a fan of the country genre. I transferred in this year as a junior and I am an Outdoor Education major and Biology minor. I hate celery with a passion. Everything about it bothers me greatly, the smell and taste of it especially. When I see people eat ants on a log, I cry inside because they’re defacing peanut butter, a gift of the gods, with the hideous vegetable. Thanks for your time and be sure to check out Late Night Love Grooves, Saturday nights from 8 – 10 p.m. You can listen to a sample of the show by clicking here.
